Sticker Design Setup and File Guidelines

Welcome to the exciting world of sticker design at 1515 Companies! Whether you're a design pro or just starting, we've got all the tips and tricks to ensure your stickers look absolutely fabulous. Let's dive into the nitty-gritty of setting up your sticker design for the best results.

Default Border & Size Selection

By default, we add a small border around your artwork to give it that neat, finished look. But hey, if you're all about living on the edge and want a full-bleed (design stretching to the very edge of the sticker), just drop us a note at checkout. Remember, the size you select refers to the longest side of the sticker, so size it up right!

File Setup

For the DIY Design Gurus:

If you're rocking Adobe Illustrator and want to flex those design muscles, here's how you can set up your file:

  1. Artwork Layer: Create a layer named "Artwork" for your main design.
  2. Cut Line Layer: Add another layer called "Cut Line." Here, you can use paths to define your cutline. Want it snug against your design? Vectorize your artwork, offset it, and convert that path to a stroke.

For Everyone Else:

Don't sweat it! Our team is here to handle all the file setup for you. Just send us your design, and we'll take care of the rest.

Safety Margin

For designs with a border, maintain a 0.05" margin between your artwork and the cutline. This little space ensures everything looks tidy and nothing important gets snipped off.

Full Bleed Setup

Craving that edge-to-edge look? For full bleed, we'll nudge the cut line inside your art by about 0.03". If you're setting this up yourself, remember to bring that cut line in by at least 0.03".

Minimum Cut Size

  • Die-Cut Stickers: The smallest we can go is 0.75x0.75". Need tinier? Reach out to us!
  • Kiss-Cut Stickers: We can do as small as 0.5x0.5".

Fine Detail

We recommend a minimum line-weight of 0.5pt for those intricate details. This ensures your design is crisp and clear.

Color

  • Artwork Color: Feel free to submit your artwork in either CMYK or RGB. We lean towards RGB for its wider color gamut.
  • Printer Capability: Our printers use ten ink colors, hitting over 98% of Pantone colors, so your design pops just the way you want it.

Image Resolution

High resolution is the name of the game! We recommend 300 pixels per in (ppi) at full size for that sharp, eye-catching look. Got a low-res image? We'll enhance it, but super low-res might still look a bit grainy. We'll give you a heads-up if there's an issue.

File Format

Send us your design on of the below formats to ensure the highest quality sticker. If you're setting up the file, a PDF works great.

Vector Files: Illustrator, PDF, EPS, SVG

Raster Files: JPG/JPEG, PNG, TIF/TIFF, PSD, PDF

White Print

By default, white areas in your design are left transparent, showing the vinyl material. At this time we don't offer printing in white inks.
